With the growing popularity of the Nintendo Switch more and more games make their way to the system, this week comes 2064 Read Only Memories a cyberpunk narrative adventure, which I've never played till now.
Going into the game I did think it was a visual novel but it turns out it's a bit of that and point & click adventures of old, where you would have to look around the room, tap objects, talk to people and do the odd puzzle.
This is rather simple and won't be as taxing as some of the puzzles in old Lucas Art Adventures yet does give a sense of gameplay over a standard visual novel.
As you may have guessed the game is set 2064 in a world where humans have modded themselves, robots dispense water in parks and so on with the core game being to help Turing a self-aware robot voiced by Melissa Hutchison who's truly the main character of 2064 to find his friend Hayden.
In a simple sci-fi mystery which is told very well through your choices along the way interacting with many of the characters who are nearly all voiced acted that includes well-known voice actors like Melissa Hutchison to guest actors such as Jim Sterling and WWE's Xavier Woods (Austin Creed).
2064 is the sort of game the suits the Switch not as a home console on a 49" 4KTV but in handheld mode due to the art-style it's just great to play in that way.
2064 isn't for everyone but if you have a remote interest in visual novels, point & click adventures or the cyberpunk setting you can't really go wrong with 2064.
