About the Game: Available digitally on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and Linux early March. White Night is a narrative-driven survival horror game taking place in a mansion during the 1930s.
Why should I be excited? White Night puts players in the role of a man who's retreated into a mansion after possibly running a woman over with his car. Unfortunately for our hero, it's a haunted mansion. It's unclear if this is related to the protagonist's previous misfortune, but it seems like that would be an awful strange coincidence if it wasn't.
The most striking thing about White Night is its bold black & white aesthetic. "We wanted to create something that people would enjoy, but also something that would stand out as unusual and refreshing in today's survival horror landscape," said creative director Ronan Coiffec on the PlayStation Blog. "That meant revisiting the themes that made classic horror games like the original Alone in the Dark so gripping: mature storytelling, strong characters, compelling environments and equal respect for tension and terror. White Night is a good old ghost story full of mystery, poetry, alchemy and suspense."
Extra Info: Prior to leading development on White Night, Coiffec worked on Eden Games' Alone in the Dark reboot, Remember Me, and according to his Linkedin profile, he came up with the concept for Dontnod's recent episodic teen drama Life is Strange.
My thoughts: Looks to be very much up my street, love the art style and the genre it is set in can’t wait to get my hands on it.
