Do you like The Legend of Zelda if the answer is Yes then Oceanhorn might be for you. Due the clear inspiration of The Zelda series most notably Wind Waker.
Now unlike Wind Waker which is played from the 3D perspective Oceanhorn is played from a top down view more similar to the likes of Phantom Hourglass.
I believe this direction on how the game is viewed and played is due to Oceanhorn origins onmobile back in 2013, where it would be easier to control and view the game in this style.
Oceanhorn has since come to many more platforms since and been updated along the way, I’ve been playing the PS4 version of this adventure for instance.
Now the PS4 isn’t going to get a Zelda game of any sort and the closet you’re going to get is Oceanhorn in the more of the vein of the classic 2D Zelda’s and things like the soon to be released remaster of Darksiders if you want 3D style.
They may both play like a Zelda game but Oceanhorn is almost what you would imagine a Zelda for Mobile would be like where Darksiders isn’t.
Only thing is even though Oceanhorn has been updated for consoles, at its heart it’s still a mobile game with simple controls and as this being inspired by Wind Waker you can sail to new island but you don’t control any of this part from the gunfire of your boat, all the rest is taken care of by the game.
Much like Adventure of Mana I reviewed recently, Oceanhorn is a simple yet fun homage to The Legend of Zelda with a great art style and soundtrack from Nobuo Uematsu & Kenji Ito all wrapped in 10hr adventure with a rewarding levelling system and mini challenges.
