Last night I finished the excellent Persona 5 after 95 hours and getting the true ending but the trophy didn't pop, I don't know why this happened as the other 47% I got popped fine.
Now my options after this seemed to be start New Game+ and replay a 95 hour game or load a old save thanks to the cloud, which I've now done and put me 88hrs into the game. Because of roughly 7 hours to put back into the game I'm not planning to go back to it anytime soon as with that time, I could finish all of the story of Injustice 2 for instance.
This isn't the first time something like this has happened to me or someone, as this reminds me of Halo 3 and my early days with the Xbox 360.
At launch I could only get my hands on Core 360 which of course had to go off to repair due to red ring of death during in August 2007 (almost 10 years ago now), which at time Xbox 360 Elite came out and like you do I bought one.
I had one preordered anyway as I wanted a Hard Drive as I was still using a Memory Card, along with a HDMI port (also black looked cooler) to get improved resolution on my TV, originally I would have traded in my Core but as it was off for repair, I paid in cash for the Elite along with an extra black controller, black play & charge kit and Bioshock.
As I was a silly bugger I left my Memory Card in my Core which had been shipped off, so when I brought my Elite home, I setup a new profile called masofdas and I lost 16,000+ gamerscore which at the time was impressive as I had to start over.
The Core game back and I sold it to a local game shop when it did and transferred my game saves over to the Elites HDD but I had the choice now do I continue on with masofdas which I only played Bioshock and a few other games here or there or continue on the less original gamertag of Chris Pengilly.
Due to having running Xbox Live on masofdas that is the one continued on with and the name most of you will know me by now.
A month after all this happened of buying Elites and deciding on my profile name, the big one came out, I finally would get to finish the fight in Halo 3.
As I had the week booked off work for Halo 3, I went to town to be the first in the door GAME at 8am to get my copy of the game.
I come home get all my snacks and drinks for a long session. After 8 hours of continuous play, I'm on the last level driving the warthog to the ship, then black screen and RROD on my Elite after one month, I had killed the 360.
I managed to turn it back on for a brief while, much to my surprise I got the achievement for beating Halo 3 but not the last level.
The Elite got sent away for repair and in that time I played Heavenly Sword on PS3 and totally forgot about achievements as this was the days before trophies.
When my 360 came back, I had totally forgot that I was missing an achievement on Halo 3, I was just having fun playing it online and racing in the recently released Project Gotham Racing 4.
I did go back and get the achievement over a year later and I will likely do the same with Persona 5, one day I'll decide to pop it back in but for now, I will move on to something else on PS4.
And with all the talk before the Switch launched about it needing a universal reward system, now after this and thinking back to Heavenly Sword on PS3. I didn't care that I wasn't getting something pop telling me I beat a level, I just enjoyed playing the game.
I've enjoyed playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on my Switch, would I've enjoyed it more if I got a thing pop up going you beat the Star Cup.
The Answer is No.
